FACIAL REJUVENTATION

WHAT IS IT?

Beauty begins from the inside out, with the face reflecting the overall health and balance of one’s entire body.
By inserting needles into the skin, we are encouraging fibroblasts (the cells that form collagen and elastin) to come to the area and  form new collagen fibers. We are literally increasing the collagen and elastin in the targeted areas.
The Facial Rejuvenation treatment is NOT solely facial acupuncture- because we are using acupuncture on the body, and in the ears (this is called auricular acupuncture), it is restorative for both the mind and body and can slow the effects of the normal aging process.   We work on correcting the underlying imbalances, leaving the individual looking and feeling better.

WHY TRY FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE?
It is a non-surgical alternative and requires less (if any) recovery time, less (if any) risk and side effects and is less expensive than traditional facial procedures.
We recommend a series of 10-12 weekly sessions to achieve the desired results, with regular maintenance. This can be as little as once a month or every 6 weeks, or as much s every 2-3 weeks.  It varies by person based on age, constitution, diet and self-care.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is not a replacement for surgery but it is an effective alternative to surgical face lifts and peels. It is safe, less costly, and no risk of permanent damage.  There is no movement restriction as there can be with Botox and no drooping/sagging due to the accidental spreading of the product thus paralyzing muscles.

FOR THE FACE-TURNS BACK THE CLOCK
It detoxifies the skin, reduces fine lines, smooths wrinkles and softens deeper wrinkles, re-hydrates skin, lifts and firms sagging skin, promotes lymph drainage and reduces puffiness, increases collagen and elastin, decreases under-eye bags, lightens dark under-eye circles, improves complexion, tightens skin and pores, lifts the face, skin, and neck and improves the overall quality of the skin tone.

FOR THE BODY-INCREASES FUNCTIONALITY
It increases energy and sense of well-being, improves digestion, emotional balance, reduces or elminates insomnia and minimizes overall stress on the body and face.
*I hold additional training in Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture which involves both a full-body treatment along with acupuncture on the face. The combination enables me to treat from the inside out and the health reflects on the face. Specially designed face needles are used to lift sagging skin, stimulate the muscles of the face, even the skin tone and reduce lines and wrinkles. I am also trained in microcurrent therapy, facial cupping and facial gua sha. You will leave with a radiant glow, feeling better and looking fresher and more youthful. (A series of 8-12 treatments is recomended for optimum results, with regular maintenance varying from bi-weekly to.) (Please note- results are subtle.)
Both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize acupuncture as an effective form of treatment for a variety of conditions.

ANCILLARY TECHNIQUES

Tui Na is therapeutic bodywork. “Tui” means “to push,” “Na” means “to grasp.” Using a series of hand techniques allows balance to be restored in the body.

Moxibustion is the burning of the herb mugwort over specific acupuncture points or areas of the body. The heat allows the medicinal properties of the herb to gently penetrate deep into the body to warm and nourish.

Gua Sha and cupping use a scraping tool (Gua Sha) or glass cups (cupping) on the skin’s surface to draw toxicities from deep in the body to a more superficial level so that the body can process and flush them out.  With the removal of the toxicities, one’s qi and blood can flow unimpeded throughout the body and facilitate healing.  These methods can be used in both acute and chronic conditions.
